Everything You Need to Know About Engagement Rings
Ring shopping brings up more questions than people expect. We asked our bridal specialists — the ones who sit with couples through every step of it — what comes up most. Here's what they told us.
Should I go ring shopping with my partner?
Our initial consultation is a chance to narrow down what your partner is envisioning. Together, we can define the ring, or a few combinations worth considering. From there, our team helps facilitate — whether you want to surprise your partner completely, or have them part of every detail.
Come with your partner. Come solo. Bring a friend, a parent, whoever. We have the chairs, and we love making it memorable for anyone you choose to bring.
What are the four C's?
Cut, color, clarity, carat — the grades every diamond receives, whether lab-grown or natural. They determine quality, and they contribute to value and price.
Value is also personal. We have our own recommendations for a clear, brilliant white diamond, but we can source lower or higher depending on what you're after. Brilliant and step cuts carry weight and show color differently, so it's worth talking it through with a Bridal Specialist — especially if you're prioritizing certain grades to stay within budget.
Can settings be customized?
Consider our signature settings a starting point, not the finish line. Stone shape, size, metal color — all made to order. You might find you favor a thicker band, or fall for a hidden halo once you try it on. Our specialists listen, walk you through the options, and make suggestions based on how you actually live.
What does the timeline look like?
After your first consultation, we source diamonds for you and your partner to review together. Once the diamond and setting — plus any changes — are finalized, payment is complete and production begins. Plan for four to six weeks. Rush timeline? Let us know and we'll build a plan around it.
How do I care for an engagement ring?
When in doubt, take it off — for nail appointments, the gym, anything hands-on. We include a Jewelry Pocket Scrunchie and Jewelry Travel Case for exactly this. Every CTWF piece carries a one-year manufacturing warranty.
Get stones and prongs checked twice a year. Clean it weekly at home, or stop by if you're local — cleanings are always complimentary. White gold pieces can be rhodium-plated to keep their original brilliance. We're here, in-store or virtually, whenever your ring needs a little attention.
Finding the right ring is personal — and it should feel that way from the first consultation to the moment it's on the hand. Our bridal specialists are with you for the whole thing.
