Q&A with Our Founder Emily Eggebrecht

You have probably seen our Founder, Emily, around on our Instagram or on the Journal before, but we thought it was the perfect time to re-introduce her! We sat down to chat about the jewelry she never takes off, her favorite collections, how she stays motivated and so much more. Keep reading to get to know her better... we know you'll love her as much as we do!

What does your ideal weekend look like?

I occasionally take engagement ring meetings on Saturdays at our storefront and really love my time spent there with couples, but my “real” weekend typically starts on Sunday! I love spending time with my family. My husband and I usually take our kids to 12 South (Burger Up, Fryce Cream, and Sevier Park are just a few favorites!). We have three boys ages 3, 2, and 2 (and I’m due with another boy in September!) so we spend A LOT of time outdoors playing.

Any jewelry you never take off?

I will admit that I have some jewelry I never take off (please do as I say and not as I do - check out this post for how to properly care for your jewelry!). It really depends on the season of life I’m in, but I have some hoops and studs that I don’t change out every day so I don’t irritate my ears continually taking them out.

I also have a Cartier bracelet I bought on the first trip after I had my kids that I am always wearing. It was my first time being away from my kids, and buying that bracelet as a special treat for myself is something that I will always remember.

While I might have some jewelry I rarely take off, I always take my rings off at night! Funny story, I recently fell asleep with my wedding band on and it was no longer on my finger when I woke up. Don’t worry, I found it, but learn from my mistakes and take off your ring when you are sleeping (or rock climbing, doing yoga, washing the dishes… you get the drill!).

Do you have a favorite piece of jewelry you’ve designed?

Gosh, there’s just been too many collections to pick a favorite… our Nomad Collection, Seed Collection, Classics collection, and In Color Collection were all so fun, but for me, it always comes back to basics. I find myself returning to our Signature Collection designs time and time again. I really love designing timeless pieces that people can wear for life.

What keeps you motivated?

I definitely have ways to pick myself up when I find myself struggling with this. Leadership podcasts are a go-to for me. Leading people is the biggest challenge of my job and all of the change that comes with that. Being able to balance being a mother, business owner, wife, and friend all comes down to leadership so I’m always striving to grow in that way.

Also, I truly am obsessed with jewelry… anything about jewelry whether that’s an event, magazine, podcast, or tradeshow, I’m there. I’m always studying and hoping to learn more about the jewelry world.

How did you and your husband meet?

We met in choir class at Belmont University during our sophomore year. Our choir class went on a trip to Italy that year. Ben and I were already in the same friend group, but during that trip, I was amazed by how enthusiastic Ben was. By the end of the trip, he had literally said “this pasta dish is the best thing I’ve ever tasted” like six times! That joy and excitement for life was and still is my favorite thing about Ben. We didn’t end up dating until three years later, but the foundation that we built as best friends has allowed us to work together, be parents to three kids under three, and weather all of the ups and downs that life has thrown at us.

Are there any collections or new designs coming out that you’re really excited about?

I’m really excited about our Folio Variation Collection launching next week! Our Product Manager challenged me to hone in on what I really wanted in just a few designs rather than twenty designs that had design aspects I wanted, and I’m so proud of how the pieces turned out. Stay tuned!

Favorite spot in Nashville?

It’s so hard to choose! We have a whole Nashville Guide list that Ben and I did together, but I have to say that the 12 South neighborhood holds the most memories for me. I’ve seen it change and grow and the energy of that street is so contagious.

Why jewelry?

I have always been an accessories person, but jewelry has always felt extra special to me. A piece of jewelry can be so small and yet hold so much meaning. It can bring you right back to a specific time — why you got it, how you got it, and how you used it to celebrate or tell your story. I love that about jewelry.

How did you start CTWF? How did you come up with the name Consider the Wldflwrs?

Consider the Wldflwrs was born out of the desire to create something of my own. The name came from a Bible verse, Luke 12:27. I was in a pivotal season of my life where I really felt the Lord was calling me to take a chance. Growing up, my family all worked in traditional jobs so you could say it was a little unexpected for me to start a business. Even more unexpected for us to still be here 9 years later, but I love being an entrepreneur with the ability to make new rules and continue to do things people wouldn’t expect.
