I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5
We're back with John 15:5 PART II, because it's just so darn good. If you need to catch up, here's PART I. And yes, we know it's not Tuesday, but truth is nice everyday - don't you think?
...whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit...
What strikes us most about this segment of verse 5 is that Christ also abides in us. 'Abide' doesn't just mean 'to obey.' It also means 'to remain.' This then is a reminder not only of Christ's unity but His faithfulness to His bride the church. And what is more, it's a promise that His true church will bear much fruit through it's union with Christ alone. May this truth fall on ears desperate for the sweetness of God. May it carry you through this week and into eternity.
AND YOU WILL KNOW THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE. JOHN 8:32
